Meet The Team

Food • Body • Life is comprised of a team of fully qualified dietitians, headed by the senior consultant with 30 years of experience.

The professional background of this team of dietitians lies primarily in the private sector of nutrition and dietetics, working as Private Practitioners, Lecturers, and as Consultants to Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Corporate Groups, and Sporting Organisations.

Their clinical experience is diverse, drawn from a wide range of conditions encountered while working as private practitioners and also in the clinical setting of private hospitals.

The team at Julie Albrecht & Associates has a breadth of experience with Private Hospitals and Nursing homes, where their responsibilities encompassed individual patient management, menu planning, and assessment and report compilation for accreditation, staff Inservice education and Quality Assurance Programs.

They have a diversity of experience working as lecturers and nutrition educators in the area of Tertiary Education, Health and Stress Management and for Corporate and Sporting Organisations, Primary and Secondary Schools.

Julie Albrecht

Julie Albrecht’s professional background lies primarily in the private sector of nutrition and dietetics. Her career spans 30 years, working as a Private Practitioner, Lecturer, and as a Consultant to Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Corporate Groups and Sporting Organisations.

Her experience as a clinician is diverse, drawn from a wide range of conditions encountered while working as a private practitioner and in the clinical setting of private hospitals. These include the dietetic management of patients in the areas of Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes, CVA, Renal Disease, Enteral Feeding, Surgery – gastrointestinal, Oncology, Paediatrics, Maternity, Gastroenterology, Allergies and Food Sensitivities, Malnutrition and Eating Disorders.; ME/CFS

Julie has a breadth of experience with Private Hospitals and Nursing homes, where her responsibilities included individual patient management, menu planning and assessment and report compilation for accreditation, staff Inservice education and Quality Assurance Programs.

Julie has a diversity of lecturing experience and is a Lecturer for Griffith University – Health Science Unit – Dietetics, and has been employed as a consultant lecturer for Centre Of Health Promotion, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Queensland Rugby League and various sporting organisations and schools.

Julie has also had experience in the areas of Corporate Health and Stress Management, co-facilitated seminars with City Gym – Tasmania and North Queensland Radio – Townsville and as a consultant dietitian – Couran Cove Total Living Centre – Health Management Program.

Her experience also encompasses the sporting arena, working as a consultant for sporting organisations where her responsibilities included individual athlete assessment and dietary prescription, education, and the management of the provision of catering services.

Julie is also the co-author of the Gut Buster Barbecue / Weight Loss cookbooks.

Sarah Markham

B.Sc. (Hons) Nutrition. A.P.D

Sarah’s professional background lies in the UK where she spent 17 years working in the National Health Systems (NHS) hospitals; aged care; Public Health and Local Government.

Her experience as a clinician is diverse drawn from a wide range of conditions encountered in these settings. These include the dietetic management of patients in the areas of enteral feeding, malnutrition, gastroenterology, surgery, burns, and spinal injuries, diabetes (type 1,2 and gestational), cardiovascular disease, CVA, overweight and obesity, renal disease, mental health, eating disorders, the elderly and oncology.

In her management role, she was CEO of Dietetic Services, responsible for the review and implementation of quality assurance programs, auditing nutrition practice, menu planning and coordinating training of student dietitians.

Sarah’s role as a Project Manager was in the Public Health sector. She was responsible for the implementation of nutrition projects for the general population. This has included supermarket store tours and cooking sessions for people on low income. She has also worked promoting nutrition on television and on the radio.

As a Nutrition Advisor for Local Government, Sarah was responsible for the development and implementation of nutritional standards for meals provided to primary schools; nutrition for the elderly; reviewing the nutritional sip foods; the development of nutritional screening tools and the implementation of training programs.

In the area of Education, she has lectured in Nutrition at Bournemouth University and in the community. She has developed and conducted courses for the dietary management of diabetes for practice nurses; nutrition for the elderly – residential nurse care staff and weight management groups.
